The children’s bodies
Eight children aged between four and six years have been found dead inside a parked vehicle in the Badagry area of Lagos.
Sources said that the children who entered the Lexus SUV vehicle to play but mistakenly locked themselves inside the vehicle suffocated to death.
Periscope International gathered that the children were apparently unable to open the vehicle that was parked in front of the owner’s house located in a community on the Badagry Expressway in Lagos.
Confirming the tragedy, the spokesman for the Lagos State police command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the children’s remains had been deposited at the Badagry General Hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
“The eight children were said to have mistakenly locked themselves in an abandoned car on Saturday while playing.
“Their bodies had been recovered and deposited at the Badagry General Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy so as to determine the actual cause of death.
“Notwithstanding the report made to the police, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered a thorough and speedy investigation into the circumstances surrounding the children’s death.
“The CP also commiserates with the families of the victims,” the police spokesman said.
