Adamawa varsity student dies from snakebite on campus
A 100-level student of the Modibbo Adama University in Yola, Adamawa State, has died after she was bitten by a poisonous snake.
It was gathered that the deceased student, Comfort Isah, was allegedly bitten by a snake at the Faculty of Education last week.
Confirming the incident, Miracle Musa, a Special Assistant to the Adamawa State Governor, said the student died on Tuesday night.
Periscope International reports that snakebites are common in parts of Nigeria, particularly the North Central and Northeast where Adamawa is located.
The most common specie is the carpet viper, which kills its victim within days of biting if immediate treatment with anti-snake venom is not available.
