Comoros’ Youssouf M’Changama scored a consolation stunning free-kick and Chaker Alhadhur, normally a defender, produced a brilliant performance as stand-in goalkeeper.

Prior to the match, Cameroon had won two and drawn one in the competition,  while the Gambia had progressed to the quarterfinals after defeating Zambia 1-0 earlier on Monday.

The hosts are to face the debutants, Gambia, in the quarter-final clash on Saturday.
