Alleged N5bn Fraud: EFCC rearraigns ex-Aviation Minister Stella Oduah, others
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday rearraigned a former Minister of Aviation, Sen. Stella Oduah, and others before a Federal High Court in Abuja, over an alleged N5 billion fraud.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oduah was rearraigned alongside eight other alleged accomplices before Justice Inyang Ekwo.
The anti-graft agency accuses the former minister of allegedly misappropriating the sum of N5 billion while she served as Minister during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
Also arraigned alongside the ex-Senator, who represented Anambra North Senatorial District at the 9th National Assembly, were Gloria Odita, Nwosu Emmanuel Nnamdi and Chukwuma Irene Chinyere. were arraigned by the EFCC.
Justice Ekwo fixed the date after counsel that appeared for EFCC, Hassan Liman, SAN, prayed the court to allow the defendants to take their plea,
Others are Global Offshore and Marine Ltd, Tip Top Global Resources Ltd, Crystal Television Ltd, Sobora International Ltd.
In the 25-count charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/316/2020, they are accused of conspiracy, money laundering and maintaining anonymous bank accounts with a commercial bank.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against them.
It would be recalled that the EFCC had initially filed the charge against the defendants on December 17, 2020 but the case could not proceed due to some reasons.
The court proceedings were still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
