Armed bandits at midnight in the early hours of Sunday abducted the Emir of Kajuru, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, three wives, aides and other members of his family.
Sources said that the bandits, in large numbers, stormed the Kajuru palace of the Emir, midnight shooting sporadically to scare people before kidnapping their victims.
The outlaws were said to have made away with three wives of the Emir, two grandchildren and a number of his aides during the unhindered one hour operation in the palace.
The Emir’s grandson, Saidu Musa, confirmed the incident, saying: “gunmen stormed the palace around 12.30am and took his Royal Highness and twelve members of his family.”
Also confirming the Emir’s kidnap, Senator Shehu Sani, a former senator for Kaduna Central District, decried the incessant spate of abductions in the state.
“Emir of Kajuru, 30 minutes drive from Kaduna and twelve of his family members were forcefully kidnapped yesternight.
“The Bandits operated freely for one hour in my Kaduna State. Nowadays, it is no more about who is safe but who is the next victim,” Senator Sani wrote on Twitter.
The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to respond to enquiries about the abduction by the time of filing in the report.
