Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State says his family members and friends have asked him to join the 2023 Presidential race.

The governor disclosed this when he received Coalition of Northern Youth, National Union of Road Transport Workers and other Trade Unions at Government House, Bauchi, on Thursday.

The governor had earlier asked the groups to give him three weeks to consult widely on whether to contest the presidency or not.

However, after the expiration of the three weeks, Mohammed sought for another three weeks to make a final decision.

On Thursday, he said he needed more time.

“Already my friends have urged me to run; my family members are on the same line. My Party, the PDP, in the state, has also urged me to run. We are in the process of consultation.

“When you came the other time, I told you that we needed to go and consult. Consultation again that is why we have taken so long I must apologise because of the expense of my constituencies.”

Mohammed thanked the coalition for finding him suitable for the exalted position, adding that it was not the first such call was made by them on him to contest.
