‘Biological son’ sues Gov Sanwo-Olu for denying paternity

Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has been dragged to court by his alleged biological son, Emmanuel Sanwu-Olu, following the governor’s refusal to accept him as his biological son.

The young man also sued the governor for refusing to subject himself for a DNA test to prove his claims.

In a paternity scandal suit which is rocking the governor’s family, the young man claims that Gov Sanwo-Olu is his biological father and requested the governor to waive his constitutional immunity to prosecution and undergo a DNA test to confirm his (Emmanuel) paternity.

The claimant, in a suit marked DHC/148/2022, and filed on his behalf  by his lawyer, John Aikpokpo, before the Delta State High Court, Effurun, alleged that the governor, while working at a private company operating in Delta State from 1994 to 1995, dated and impregnated his mother, Grace Moses and disappeared.

According to the plaintiff, he began to question his mother about his father when someone drew his attention to the fact that he has a striking resemblance to Sanwo-Olu and bears the name.

Emmanuel said that he saw the similarities between him and the governor and thereafter showed videos to his mother who confirmed that the governor was actually his biological father.

He claimed in the originating summons that the governor had refused to give him attention, and urged the court to grant him the reliefs he sought in the suit.

The reliefs include, “A declaration that the Defendant is the biological father of the Claimant begotten from Madam Grace Moses of Oleri, Delta State.

“An order directing and compelling the Defendant to acknowledge and accord the claimant all the rights of a son in accordance with all the laws applicable, whether customarily, statutorily or constitutionally.

“An Order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further denying the parenthood of the claimant.”

He further said that the governor had filed an objection to the suit and refused to undergo any DNA test as demanded by him in order to prove his claims.

Periscope International, however, learned that Gov Sanwo-Olu has filed processes in the court, denying the claims, refusing to waive his immunity and undergo a DNA test.

The case has been adjourned to 17th January, 2023 for hearing of Sanwo-Olu’s objections.
