Breaking: Imo lawmaker, Arthur Egwim, is dead
Mr Arthur Egwim, Imo State House of Assembly member representing Ideato North State Constituency, is dead.
The lawmaker reportedly died following some health-related issues.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Emeka Nduka (APC Ehime Mbano), confirmed the incident in a statement which he issued by himself.
Nduka described the lawmaker as “a ranking parliamentarian of note and a strong voice at the assembly”.
The speaker further noted that his death would create a vacuum in the legislature, adding that he was one of its “finest and best brains.”
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the deceased lawmaker.
Egwim was first elected into the eighth house in 2015 and had served as a chief whip of the house.
He contested for his constituency’s House of Representatives seat in the just-concluded national Assembly elections on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) but lost.
