The Labour Party (LP) has announced the appointment of Mr Akin Osuntokun as the Director-General of its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC.
Osuntokun’s appointment is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by its Head of Media, Mr Diran Onifade,.
The new Director General is to replaces Dr Doyin Okupe, the former presidential campaign DG, who recently resigned following his conviction by a Federal High Court for money laundering.
Until his appointment, Osuntokun was the Zonal Coordinator (South) of the campaign council.
The statement reads in part, “He (Osuntokun) is a political scientist, strategist, researcher, administrator, journalist and writer, with experience in media advocacy, policy research and implementation and political analysis.
“Osuntokun is a former Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“He also served as Political Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Director of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council in 2011.”
Akin Osuntokun has also served as the managing director of O’dua Printing Cooperation and sat on the board of several public corporations, while contributing to newspaper columns
He is currently the Balogun of Okemesi of Ekiti in Ekiti State, which translates to the war commander of Okemesi Ekiti where he hails from.
