The late Amaechi Muonagor
Veteran Nigerian actor, Amaechi Muonagor, is dead.
He was aged 61.
A family source, who confirmed the news of Amaechi’s death on Sunday evening said he died of kidney failure.
“Yes, it is true that our brother Amaechi is no more.
“He died of kidney disease today,” the family source who preferred not to be named said.
It would be recalled that the deceased actor had in 2023 suffered a stroke that led to the partial paralysis of his left leg.
He had been undergoing weekly dialysis and physiotherapy to treat the kidney failure and the paralysis brought on by stroke, respectively.
The actor appeared in scores of Nigerian movies. He was famous for his role in Aki and Paw Paw, where he played the father of two mischief-making young boys.
He is survived by his wife, Hope Chikodi Muonagor, and their children.
He recently appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance for a scheduled kidney transplant in India.
The late Amaechi was famous for his comical roles on screen.
His exit comes too soon after another Nollywood legend, John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu, died of diabetes disease at the age of 62.
