Breaking: PGF DG, Salihu Lukman, resigns
Salihu Lukman, the Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), has resigned.
A source at the PGF secretariat in Abuja told Periscope International that Lukman tendered his resignation letter on Monday to PGF chairman and Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu.
The reason for the sudden exit of Lukman has not been made available at press time but the source said it may not be unconnected with the controversy over the conduct of the national convention of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The former PGF D-G has been consistently critical about the way the APC has been handling some of its affairs, the latest of which is the open-ended date for its national convention.
He recently wrote a lengthy piece in which he took a swipe at the party’s leadership and warned the national caretaker committee against the further delay of the national convention and its attendant effect on its fortunes ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Periscope International recalls that as recent as yesterday, the PGF chairman, Bagudu told newsmen after a meeting of the APC governors in Abuja that the convention would hold in February as earlier planned but he did not disclose a specific date for the event, raising more doubts about the convention.
