Breaking: UN appoints Ex-Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan Global Crises Envoy
The United Nations has appointed former President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan as its Global Crises Envoy.
The role is similar to that of Tony Blair who on leaving office as United Kingdom Prime Minister was appointed the Middle East envoy for the United Nations, European Union,United States and Russia.
Goodluck Jonathan is the first African past Head of State to be assigned this high profile international tasking responsibility.
The former president who lost re-election bid to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 had called Buhari to concede defeat to him.
Jonathan rose from the position of a university lecturer to his Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, then from Deputy Governor to Governor.
He was again propelled from Governor to Nigeria’s Vice President, from Vice President to Acting President and from Acting President to President in an an amazing political trajectory.
The former President has now risen to the position of a World Leader with a lot to offer the world.
