A clergyman, Ekejiuba George, was on Tuesday arraigned before a Gwagwalada Magistrate’s Court in the federal capital territory, FCT, for allegedly enticing a married woman.

George was charged with enticing a married woman, which he pleaded not guilty to.

The magistrate adjourned the case until July 22, for hearing.

Earlier, the complainant’s counsel, Eze Osinachi told the court that the complainant, Chika Nwafor, is a pastor within the jurisdiction of the court.

He said the complainant alleged that the defendant was in the habit of enticing his wife, Mrs Blessing Nwafor.

According to Osinachi, the defendant has been enticing Nwafor’s wife since they got married, in spite of several warnings and pleadings to him.

Osinachi alleged that the defendant would  call the complainant’s wife at odd hours like  midnight.

He added that sometimes the complainant’s wife would go outside and have secret conversation with him (the defendant).

“The defendant and the complainant’s wife exchange pictures of each other via their WhatsApp platforms,” he said.

The defendant’s counsel added that the duo had been spotted together in some places at odd hours of the day.

“The defendant has been doing everything humanly possible to cause a breakup in the marriage between the complainant and his wife as he constantly incites the complainant’s wife against the complainant.

“In spite of the interventions of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) of Tunga Maje, the defendant has not stopped enticing the complainant’s wife and interfering in their marriage,” the lawyer further said.

Osinachi prayed the court to compel the defendant to stop enticing his wife and interfering in his marriage.

According to him, the offence contravenes  the provision of Section 389 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
