Confirming the incident, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, the Public Relations Officer of the command, told journalists that police operatives had arrested the woman, adding that she had confessed to the crime.

According to Haruna, the incident was reported to the police headquarters by one Sadia Haruna, a relative of the suspect, following which the Commissioner of Police immediately ordered her immediate arrest and thorough investigation.

The command spokesman explained that the incident was first discovered by a neighbour of the suspect who alerted her neigbours.

He said the suspect’s neighbour narrated that he was sleeping when he heard the crying of the kids when their mother was strangling them with her rapper.

The PPRO added that the neighbour further said that before he could gain entrance into the house, the woman had already killed the two kids.

Haruna said the suspect’s neighbour added that the woman’s husband with whom she claimed to have conspired to kill their two children in order to become rich through money rituals immediately ran away.

According to the police spokesman, when the suspect was caught, she started crying and begging for mercy, claiming that she regretted her action.
