Nankar Shagaya: wins as Court nullifies Zulfa’s election as Langtang North LG election APC flag bearer
A Plateau State High Court sitting in Langtang North Local Government Area on Monday nullified the election of Mr Rimven Zulfa as the chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in last October’s local government elections.
Delivering judgement, the presiding judge, Justice Na’ankwat Sashet ordered the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return it earlier issued to Zulfa as the winner of the said election.
The Judge also ordered that Zulfa should henceforth stop parading himself as the Executive Chairman of Langtang North LGA.
The judge further held that Zulfa’s emergence as APC’s candidate for Langtang North Local Government in the purported October 09, 2021, was a sham, stressing that it fell short of due process.
The Judge also held that the APC failed to conduct primary elections before nominating Zulfa as its candidate for the office of Chairman, Langtang North L.G.C as required by law,
Justice Shaseet also struck out the Preliminary Objections filed by Zulfa and his co-defendants.
The court also resolved all the issues submitted by the plaintiff for determination and granted all the four reliefs sought by him.
