Detained VON D-G, Osita Okechukwu released since Jan 31, says EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, who was detained by the commission over alleged fraud has since been released.

Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, told journalists on Saturday in Abuja that Okechukwu was released on January 31.

Periscope International recalls that Okechukwu was detained by the EFCC after he honoured the commission’s invitation on January 29 over alleged conspiracy, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds.

The VON chief was interrogated by the anti-graft agency on issues bordering on alleged N1.3 billion fraud but was later released on bail.
