EFCC arraigns ex-ABU VC, Bursar for alleged N1bn fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday arraigned Prof Ibrahim Garba, a former Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria a Kaduna State High Court over alleged N1 billion fraud.
Also arraigned alongside the ex-VC was the institution’s bursar, Ibrahim Usman.
The Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC arraigned the duo before Justice A.A Bello on an eight count charge bordering on theft and money laundering
According to the anti-graft agency, their arraignment followed several months of discreet investigation.
The EFCC said that triggered by a petition accusing the duo of diverting monies meant for the renovation of the institution’s popular Kongo Conference Hotel, Zaria.
It said that the investigation had established that over one billion Naira was stolen from different accounts of the institution by the defendants and diverted into their private accounts.
