Voters in parts of Abuja defy rainfall to vote, monitor ballot boxes

Voters at Karu in the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) on Saturday defied what many termed as first rain of the year, to guard their votes.

The voters, who were seen taking shelter around the various polling units, were equally seen closely monitoring the boxes, while presiding officers searched for safe locations to keep the materials.

While a few of the voters, particularly the aged hurriedly left to avoid being drenched, a good number of voters waited behind.

One of the voters, Mr John Joseph at Polling Unit 069, said that the rain was a blessing.

He said, ” For us to experience first rain of the year on the day of election speaks volume.

“This is an evidence that God is in the business of Nigeria

“I hear of a few issues in some states in the country but I believe and hope that at the end of the day Nigerians will smile.”

Some of the voters, who had carried umbrellas to the polling units, were comfortably waiting to see the outcome of the election.

Meanwhile, accreditation and voting has ended in some polling units, while counting of votes has commenced.(NAN)
