Ex-U.S. First Lady Rosalynn Carter diagnosed with dementia
95-year-old former First Lady of the United States of America, USA, Mrs Rosalynn Carter, has been diagnosed with dementia, a statement from her family said.
The announcement comes as her husband, 98-year-old former President Jimmy Carter, receives hospice care at their home in Georgia.
The statement said, “She continues to live happily at home with her husband.”
According to reports, her husband, former President Carter was placed on hospice care in February.
He is the nation’s longest-living president.
Mrs Carter, who is the oldest living first lady, was said to be “enjoying spring… and visits with loved ones” despite her diagnosis.
Periscope International recalls that President Carter served only one term in office from 1977-81.
Since leaving the White House, Mr Carter and his wife have remained active, carrying out humanitarian work through his Carter Center.
