FG says repair work on damaged Abuja-Kaduna rail tracks completed

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has announced that the repair work on the damaged Abuja-Kaduna rail tracks has been completed and train service will resume immediately

Periscope International recalls that the train service was suspended on Oct 21 following an attack on the rail track by some gunmen on Oct 20.

The minister who spoke on Friday during an inspection to ascertain the damage on the tracks said the government was already working to apprehend the culprits.

“What is significant is that the repair was done by our Nigerian engineers and completed in record time.

“They moved in today and finished today and by tomorrow, we expect that the first train will run.

“When I get to Abuja tomorrow, I will see the leadership of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Chief of Army Staff. We will find the people,” Amaechi said.

Speculations on whether the attack was carried out by terrorist bandits or it was a mere act of sabotage on the rail tracks har gone viral following the incident.
