Gov. Mutfwang approves N30bn for Langtang Dam rehab

Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has signed a ₦30 billion contract for the rehabilitation of Langtang Dam in Langtang North Local Government Area of the state.

The governor, while signing the deal on Friday in Jos, said his administration was committed to solving the challenges of water supply in the southern zone of the state.

He described the project as a significant step toward sustainable water management and climate resilience.

He explained that the project would be executed by the state government under the Plateau State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL), a World Bank-financed initiative.

ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Garba Gonkol, lauded the government’s decision to prioritize critical infrastructure which directly impact the well-being of the people of the state.

He said that the initiative aligned with the state’s broader climate resilience strategy.

Also speaking, Akin Fagbohun, the Project Engineer and Contractor, provided an overview of the rehabilitation plans.

He assured stakeholders that the project would be completed within a stipulated 30-month timeframe.

ACReSAL is a World Bank-supported intervention aimed at addressing land degradation and climate change challenges across the Nigeria’s 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.
