Gov Ortom’s spokesman resigns, seeks to replace principal in 2023
Terver Akase, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom’s spokesman, has resigned his appointment.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary made this known in a press briefing after tendering his resignation letter on Wednesday to Gov Ortom.
Akase’s resignation is informed by his decision to contest the 2023 Benue State governorship election on the platform of the PDP, the ruling party in the state.
“I’m grateful to God that he guided and protected me all through the six years of my duties.
“God willing, I will be the next governor of Benue State.
“I believe that the experiences I have garnered here as the Governor’s spokesman and learning from one of the best, I shall not fail.
“Our project is christened, ‘Project Benue’, it is our project. I believe that together we will succeed,” Akase said.
Akase who was appointed by Gov Ortom in Sept. 2015, is an experienced journalist who was FRCN Correspondent in Port Harcourt prior to his appointment.
The Governor’s former spokesman is not the only appointee to resign and vie for the office of governor as the governor’s Chief of Staff, Terwase Orbunde, and some Commissioners have also resigned to contest election.
The 2023 governorship seat is expected to favor his Benue Zone A Senatorial Zone, where he hails from, precisely Konshisha Local Government Area.
