Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, is a treacherous character, who cannot be trusted.
Ortom disclosed that Wike betrayed him and other Peoples Democratic Party’s governors (G-5) who had all agreed to support Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP.
Gov Ortom said that by receiving and holding a meeting with Sen Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Wike clearly demonstrated his treachery.
Ortom, however, said that Wike was merely deceiving Tinubu, as the Rivers State Governor was not truly committed to Tinubu’s presidential bid, adding that the people of the state were fully in support of Obi.
He said,“Wike is my friend and will always be my friend but we don’t agree politically anymore. We agreed to support Peter Obi but he went and met with Tinubu behind us.
“He is only deceiving Tinubu because Rivers State will never leave Peter Obi to vote for Bola Tinubu. Atiku will even get more votes than Tinubu in Rivers State.
“Wike refused to support Bola Tinubu openly because he knows that Rivers people will turn against him.
“Wike believes that Buhari would rig election for Tinubu but he can see clearly now that things are going against him.
“We know Peter Obi is popular in both Rivers State and Benue State.
“Even if I refuse to support Peter Obi today, he will still win in Benue State.
“I can bet you, the only state Bola Tinubu will win among the states of G5 governors is Oyo State.”
Periscope International recalls that Ortom and Wike were among the five PDP governors, who refused to support the presidential candidate of their party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar following the controversy which trailed the party’s presidential primary election.
The presidential election which will hold on Saturday, has no clear favorite winner in sight among Atiku, Tinubu and Obi, based on the outcome of recent online polls, coupled with some other unpredictable factors.
