Group confers most prestigious humanitarian award on Rep Agbo

A group, Global Integrity Crusade Network (GICN), a civil society organisation made up of lawyers, para-legal and private investigators,  has confered its most prestigious award, the Global Integrity Test Award (GITA) as Hero of Humanitarian Services to the Honourable Member representing Ado/Ogbadibo/ Okpokwu Federal Constituency, Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of GITC, Barrister Edward Ejembi Omaga, who spoke on behalf of the group which paid a courtesy call on the Lawmaker in his office in Abuja, explained that while its award committee was searching for persons who had impacted positively on humanity, it discovered that Dr. Ottah Agbo had touched the lives of people both in and outside his constituency so much that he deserved to be recognised.

GITC said it found out ‘in its voyage’ that Dr. Ottah Agbo, also known as the Ozigizaga and Cicero of Enone, in less than three years, had kept his campaign promises by disbursing the sum of N10 million to widows, orphans and the less privileged.

The group said that Agbo raised the hope of peasant farmers by distributing thousands of vitamin A and high yielding fortified cassava stems; and rehabilitated the Akpa-Ojenyo road, Riji-Ekile road.

The CSO said that the lawmaker also constructed a Legacy Bridge, revamped the abandoned solar powered borehole at Court Oko in Orokam, Ogbadibo, sponsored purposeful bills and motions as well as facilitated the employment of hundreds of Enone youths in federal establishments.

Besides, the group noted that the “Feed Back Lawmaker” was building classrooms, rehabilitating more roads across his Federal Constituency as well providing electricity to communities under his “Operation Light Up Enone” scheme!

The group said it was also aware that the Lawmaker  had registered  hundreds of applicants for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, (UTME), under the “Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo Free JAMB Registration Scheme”.

Omaga said, “It is noteworthy to state that Hon. Dr. Ottah Agbo used the Enayi Ottah Foundation named after his mother of blessed memory, to touch the lives of many people.

“Through the Foundation, he has awarded scholarships to indigent students and orphans; distributed clothes and food stuffs to less privileged people and widows; distributed hundreds of motorcycles to the youths, among  other things.

“We recall that this dynamic and innovative leader was one of the first few persons to donate money towards the successful completion of the Apa Medical Doctors Foundation, affiliated to the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State.

“He also organized training and financial empowerment for 350 youth and women in his Constituency from 5th to 7th October, 2020.

“We also recall that Dr. Ottah is a good crisis manager. He was the only elected representative that personally visited Okpoga and Edumoga at a time people were scared of visiting Okpokwu, to resolve the crisis between Okpoga and Ollo! His visit actually laid the foundation for the peace rally in Olayenga presided over by the Benue State Deputy Governor!”

The group then presented its most prestigious award, the Global Integrity Test Award (GITA) as ‘Hero of Humanitarian Services’ to the Lawmaker and appointed him as a Strategic Partner to the organisation.

The group further adding that the ‘Talk-And-Do Lawmaker’, as he is fondly called by his constituents indeed stands tall, amongst his contemporaries when it comes to making concrete impact on humanity.

Dr. Ottah Agbo who chairs the Committee on Narcotic Drugs in the House of Representatives while responding, thanked the group for the award and appreciated the depth of the research on his person and what he had done for his constituents.

The lawmaker, who is also the Spokesman of the House Minority Caucus, said that while he was doing his best to serve humanity, he was not even aware that some of group’s members were taking  note, stressing that the gesture reaffirmed his belief that one who serves the underprivileged lends to God.

While calling for the prayers and collaboration of constituents, he promised not to relent in his efforts to bring more development to his people.

Andrew Agbese, the lawmaker’s spokesman, in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said that Rep Agbo , who is also called ‘The Moving Train’ of Enone, subsequently announced the group as Drug Ambassadors for the keen interest it had shown in fighting the drug menace in Nigeria.

“On behalf of my committee and the Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, His Excellency, Gen. Buba Marwa, I proclaim your group as Drug Ambassadors in Nigeria.

“With this certificate, you are to work closely with my Committee and NDLEA to wage a concerted war against Drug Trafficking and Narcotic Drug Abuse in Nigeria, for if we fail to kill the scourge of drug abuse, it will kill Nigeria!” he stated.
