Gunmen abduct, behead ex-Anambra Assembly member after collecting N15m ransom
The former lawmaker was killed and decapitated after the family had parted with N15m as ransom.
Some gunmen have abducted, killed and beheaded a former Anambra House of Assembly member, Nelson Achukwu, even after his family had paid a whopping N15 million ransom to secure his release.
Anachukwu’s headless body was found by his family at a location in Uke and Ukpor boundary of the state.
His family members quickly buried the decapitated body on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, as the corpse had started to decompose.
The physically challenged ex-lawmaker represented Nnewi South II in the Anambra State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2007 .
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the police command in Anambra, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said the police were on the trail of Anachukwu’s killers and doing everything possible to arrest them.
Tochukwu said, “The victim was abducted at about 10:15pm in his house on June 9, 2022 and efforts were being made to rescue him before this unfortunate development.
“His body was found between the boundary of Uke and Ukpor communities both in Anambra.
“We are still nosing around to ensure that the culprits are uncovered and made to face the full wrath of the law.
It was gathered that the deceased ex-lawmaker was kidnapped at his residence in his country home Ukpor,in Nnewi South local government area.
A few months prior to that, he was similarly abducted but released after a humongous ransom was paid to the outlaws.
Periscope International recalls that Anambra Assembly member, Okechukwu Okoye, representing Aguata Constituency II,, was similarly abducted and beheaded.
