Locals said that the incident happened around 4 pm at a notorious kidnapping hotspot on the Anyigba-Itobe highway.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), Special Adviser, Security, to Governor Yahaya Bello, said  the Kogi state government was aware of it and had swung into action.

He said, “We have fought them; we will fight them; and we will continue to fight them until they are neutralised in that axis of the state.

“Security agents have been alerted and they will do the needful.”
