Gunmen abduct several traveling NYSC members in Rivers
Gunmen have abducted several members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who were traveling from Ondo State to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after passing out from their Orientation Camp.
The youth Corpers whose numbers are yet to be ascertained were kidnapped at about 9:00 pm on Wednesday along the Rumuji axis of the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Confirming the report, the Spokesperson of the police command in Rivers State, SP Grace Iringe-Koko said that some of the corps members have been rescued while efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining victims.
She however did not disclose the exact number of those abducted or rescued.
An eyewitness whose sister-in-law was among the victims, also confirmed the incident, adding that five of the corps members escaped and reported the incident at the Rumuji Divisional Police Station in Port Harcourt.
