Gunmen kill 2 Imo traditional rulers
Two traditional rulers in Imo State were shot dead by some hoodlums on Tuesday, throwing the state traditional institution into mourning
The gunmen were said to have attacked the traditional rulers while they were having a meeting at Nnenasa, headquarters of Njaba Local Government Area of the state.
Those killed are Eze E. A Durueburuo, Obi I of Okwudor, and Eze Sampson Osunwa of Ihebinowere autonomous community.
The attack which threw the meeting into a state of pandemonium culminated in the royal fathers running halter skelter with many of them managing to escape with serious injuries.
Mike Abattam, Imo State Police Command spokesman, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
Abattam said that two traditional rulers were killed on the spot during the attack, adding that those wounded were undergoing treatment in hospital.
Periscope International reports that the Southeastern part of Nigeria has been under siege of sorts recently with gunmen attacking and killing individuals and security operatives with impunity.
