Gunmen kill LG chairman’s father in Kano
Gunmen on Sunday killed Alhaji Dahiru Abbas, the 70-year-old biological father of Rimin Gado Local Government Chairman, Munir Dahiru-Maigari.
The deceased is said to have been murdered on by the assailants at his residence.
He was until his death the village head of Maigari in Rimin Gado Local Government Area.
The Kano State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
He said, “On Sunday at about 3:05 a.m, a report was received that suspected kidnappers stormed the residence of Abbas the Village Head of Maigari, Rimin Gado Local Government in an attempt to kidnap him.
“The suspected kidnappers in the process shot the village head on the chest and he was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where he died while receiving treatment.”
The police spokesman added that efforts were being intensified to arrest the perpetrators.
According to him, teams of Operation Restore Peace operatives have swiftly swung into action with a view to apprehending and bringing them to justice.
