Gunmen kill Nigerian Army General, kidnap wife

Major General Hussein Ahmed, former Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army, has been killed by unknown gunmen on the Lokoja-Abuja highway.

Sources said he was abducted and killed on Thursday night in the Abaji Area Council while coming from Okene to Abuja.

A source said the gunmen opened fire on his vehicle, while they were traveling, abducted and killed the general and then whisked away his wife.

His driver however survived the attack but sustained gunshot wounds.

Periscope International recalls that the deceased army boss was recently appointed as a Director at the Army Headquarters in Abuja by the new Army Chief of Staff, Faruk Yahaya.

Both the army and the police were yet to officially confirm the incident at the time of filing this report.
