The Israeli military says it has killed Hassan Nasrallah, the 64 years old overall leader of the Iran-backed terrorist group, Hezbollah, in an airstrike in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut.

The militant group has also confirmed Nasrallah’s death, saying its longtime leader “has joined his fellow martyrs.”

According to CBS News, two United States officials have also confirmed Nasrallah’s death.

The Israeli strike carried out by fighter jets, targeted the group’s “central headquarters.”

The group’s headquarters is said to be “embedded under a residential building” in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

The Israeli Defence Forces, IDF, said that the region of the city has long been a stronghold of the terror group.

Nasrallah was eliminated alongside Ali Karki, the Commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front, and other Hezbollah commanders.

It was gathered that the operation follows precise intelligence from the IDF and Israeli security establishment.

IAF fighter jets conducted the targeted strike on the Central Headquarters of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

The IDF claims that the facility is said to be located underground embedded under a residential building in the area of Dahieh in Beirut.

It said that the strike was conducted while Hezbollah’s senior chain of command were operating from the headquarters and advancing terrorist activities against Israel.

“Nastallah’s 32-year reign as the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, saw the murder of many Israeli civilians and soldiers, and the planning and execution of thousands of terrorist activities.

“He was responsible for directing and executing terrorist attacks around the world in which civilians of various nationalities were murdered.

“Nasrallah was the central decision-maker and the strategic leader of the organization.

“The Hezbollah terrorist organization, headed by Nasrallah, joined the Hamas terrorist organization in its war against the State of Israel on October 8th.

“Since then, Hezbollah has been continuing its ongoing and unprovoked attacks on the citizens of the State of Israel, dragging the State of Lebanon and the entire region into a wider escalation.

“The IDF will continue operating against anyone who promotes and engages in terrorism against the State of Israel and its people,” it said.

Meanwhile, reacting to the development, U.S. President Joe Biden, has described the killing of the terrorist leader as a “ measure of justice”.
