The Director-General, Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Mr Joseph Ari, says the fund exceeded its target in the implementation of its 2022 special Skills Intervention Programme, training more than 50,000 youths in various skills.
Ari said this on Friday in Jos when he declared open its 2022 annual performance review meeting.
He said that the fund surpassed its target and exceeded the target of 2021 when only 17,000 Nigerians were trained.
He further said the fund, in 2022, was also outstanding in the area of revenue generation as it surpassed its target in the areas of company registration, training contribution, course fees and other incomes.
Ari said that the ITF in 2022, recorded success in institutionalising the National Apprenticeship and Traineeship System(NATS) which was inaugurated in early February.
According to him, a functional NATS will ensure a structured approach to skills acquisition and certification.
“This will lead to an increase in the number of MSMEs and the expansion of existing ones to reduce the rate of unemployment, underemployment and social vices,” he said.
He said that NATS would promote balanced employment and competition to serve as a viable source of foreign earnings for the country through the export of skills.
He assured the staff that management was committed to ensuring that the fund remained a leader in the human resource development sector.
He reiterated the management’s committment to providing credible and enduring leadership that would inspire the workforce for the continuous growth of the ITF.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2022 annual performance review was attended by staff virtually and physically. (NAN)
