Jealous prostitute sets herself on fire over cheating lover
A 35-year-old woman, Maryam Aminu, who is said to be a commercial sex worker, has set herself on fire after accusing her boyfriend of cheating on her.
The woman who lives in Gindin Dinya area of Dutse, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa, was said to have doused herself with petrol and set herself ablaze.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, Adamu Shehu, said the incident occurred on Thursday.
Shehu said that she was however rescued by some people in the neighbourhood, who rushed to extinguish the fire.
He said, “Although the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained, it was alleged to be connected to a relationship with her 40-year-old lover, identified as Ibrahim Haruna.
“The lady suffered second degree burns, and is currently receiving medical attention at the General Hospital, Dutse.”
An eyewitness, Muhammad Yusif, said the lady became furious when she learned that her lover went to see another woman.
“She is a jealous commercial sex worker living in the neighbourhood.
“The lady suspected that her boyfriend went to see another woman and attempted to commit suicide,” he said.
