Kwankwaso picks Lagos cleric Idahosa as running mate


Sen Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has picked Pastor Isaac Idahosa, a Lagos-based cleric, as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.


NNPP announced this on its official Twitter handle on Thursday, a day before closing date of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the submission parties’ candidates’s names for the 2023 election elapses.

“Our Vice President is Pastor Bishop Isaac Idahosa from Edo State,” the party tweeted.


Idahosa is the Senior Pastor of God First Ministry, popularly known as Illumination Assembly, which has its main office in Ajah, Lagos’s Lekki Light Centre (LLC).which he started more than 25 years ago.


Aged 57, Pastor Idahosa was born on February 8, 1965 into the family of six children and he is third of the lot.


He spent much of his early life in the predominantly Muslim north, precisely in Minna, Niger State, where he and his siblings grew up. 


The cleric had his formal education there and enjoyed scholarship up to the university level in Niger State.


He is married to Christie Idahosa and the marriage is blessed with two children, Christabel and Osagie.


The NNPP vice presidential candidate is a qualified Mechanical Engineer with all it requires for him to practice.


Idahosa is arguably one of the richest pastors in Nigeria with a Ministry, which has been tagged a ‘Celebrity Church,’ believed to be worth well over N3 billion.


A gospel musician with three albums to his credit, Idahosa received a United Nations Peace Ambassadorial award.


He was also decorated by the Lagos State Government as one of the few Mayors of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA).
