Lalong applauds Buhari’s appointment of “Plateau illustrious daughter” as Federal Commissioner
Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau, has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of Ms Rose Ndong from Plateau as the Executive Commissioner, Exploration and Acreage Management of the recently created Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission, NURC, under the Federal Ministry of Petroluem Resources.
Ndong, a geologist, had served as the Provost, Nigerian Institute of Mining and Goesciences, and later Managing Director, Nigerian Mining Corporation, Jos, before moving on to other responsibilities at various Federal Government Agencies and abroad.
Expressing his excitement about the president’s appointment in a statement by his spokesman, Simon Macham, Lalong thanked the President for her appointment, saying that the gesture was an affirmation of his love for, and confidence in, the capacity of Plateau people, to deliver on critical national assignments.
He congratulated Ndong who he described as a “Plateau illustrious daughter” on her appointment, saying, “this is an opportunity to contribute your knowledge and experience which you have acquired over the years in the exploitation of the nation’s oil and gas resources.”
Gov Lalong said that Nigeria was in dire need of energy security and growth in the oil and gas industry, which has been further facilitated with the recent passage and signing into law of the Petroleum Industry Act.
He urged Ndong to ensure that the vision of President Buhari of developing the nation’s petroleum and gas potentials across the nation, were achieved to facilitate sufficient energy for the country.
The governor also charged the appointee to be diligent in her new assignment and demonstrate the true Plateau spirit of hard work and excellence.
