A 35-year-old man has been arrested while allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl in his wife’s bedroom in Kebbi State, Nigeria.
Kebbi State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Alhaji Umar Musa-Bala, announced this to journalists on Saturday in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.
According to the NSCDC boss, the suspect was arrested by operatives of the corps on surveillance on July 6.
He alleged that the suspect, Idris Ibrahim, had raped the five- year -old girl in his wife’s bedroom at Shiyar Fara Area of Jega Local Government and ran away.
Musa Bala further disclosed that the Intelligence Department of the corps, in the course of their surveillance apprehended the suspect.
“He was apprehended by our men on surveillance on July 6 and brought back to the command headquarters in Birnin Kebbi,”he said.
The commandant also said that, in another development, its operatives on July 14 arrested a 22-year-old man, Hussaini Abubakar of Kofar Masama area in Gwandu Local Government Council for abducting a three-year-old girl, Hajara Arzika of Badariya area in Birnin Kebbi.
He explained that the suspect was about taking the little girl to an unknown destination when members of the community alerted the NSCDC operatives who quickly swung into action and promptly apprehended him.
“A thorough investigation was carried out and it was confirmed beyond doubt that his intent was to abduct the girl to an unknown area,” he said.
The commandant said the suspects will be charged to court on Monday, July 19, and urged the people of the state to continue to support the corps with useful information, in order to end all manner of crime and criminality.
