Plateau Gov-elect, Caleb Mutfwang, has harped on the need for a strategic partnership between the incoming administration under him and the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) in order to to harness Plateau’s energy potentials.
Mutfwang made this known when he visited the management of the commission at its headquarters in Abuja on Friday in line with his pre-inauguration consultations toward attracting strategic investments and donor funded projects..
He explained to the commission’s Director-General, Prof EJ Bala, that such a partnership would focus on harnessing Plateau’s energy potentials, especially in the areas of renewable energy, small hydro, solar energy, wind farms and biomass.
The Gov-elect noted that the state’s strategic partnership with ECN would improve Plateau’s energy balance and demand, increase productivity, as well as improve manpower development, security and sustainable economic development.
Mutfwang also signed a draft memorandum of understanding, with official referrals to country representatives of international partners such as United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
These international development partners are expected to invest in Plateau State under the new administration through the Global Environment Facility (GEF) domiciled in their organizations.
Prof Bala who appreciated Mutfwang and his entourage for the visit, assured that ECN was committed to the strategic partnership with the new administration.
The ECN boss promised to immediately send a technical team to Plateau State after the Gov-elect’s inauguration on May 29th, in order to actualize the lofty proposals of the incoming government.
…..good start, my Governor-Elect. We believe in your capacity to move Plateau State out of backwardness and economic hues. May God bless you air
