Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has urged political appointees in the state to intensify their efforts and deliver exceptional service to the people, warning that they could be shown the exit door at any point in time for failure.

The governor gave the charge to commissioners, permanent secretaries, special advisers, and other government officials, at the 2025 Executive Retreat held at Kent Academy, Miango, Bassa Local Government Area.

Mutfwang emphasized the urgency of fulfilling their responsibilities through selfless service and accountability, and warned that apart from himself and the Deputy Governor, no appointee has a guaranteed position.

“There is no time for selfishness because our mission is to collectively drive societal progress.

“The era of working individually and amassing power for oneself is over.

“Even if you are posted to a ministry for three months, make a difference,” he said.

While acknowledging the importance of loyalty, he stressed that loyalty to God and a clear conscience should be paramount.

“Yes, it is good to be loyal to me, but from this moment on, your loyalty should shift to the God of heaven,” he said.

The governor called for unsupervised dedication, urging officials to act swiftly in response to the suffering and poverty faced by the people of Plateau State.

“Our people are dying, suffering, and living in poverty. They have given us their trust to improve their situation.

“We can’t wait any longer; the time to make a difference is now,” he further said.

“You should therefore work diligently, stretch your capabilities, and provide solutions to the state’s challenges.

“May we not fail,” the governor added.
