Nigerian troops rescue 20 police officers kidnapped by Boko Haram
Nigeria’s Defense Headquarters (DHQ) said on Thursday, thot its troops had rescued no fewer than 20 police officers who were recently abducted by Boko Haram terrorists.
DHQ spokesperson, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, who announced this, said that the police officers were kidnapped when the terrorists attacked Buni Yadi village in Gujba local government area of Yobe State over a week ago.
Onyeuko who disclosed this while giving a summary of military operations over the past two weeks, said the operations in Adamawa and Borno led to the killing of 62 terrorists by Hadin Kai troops, who also arrested 28.
“Regrettably, our gallant officers and soldiers paid the supreme price,” Onyeuko said.
The defense spokesman also said that 54 assorted arms, 144 rounds of different calibre of ammunition, and 101 rustled livestock were also recovered from the terrorists.
According to him, a total of 192 terrorists and their families also surrounded to troops over the past two weeks.
“They were profiled and handed over to appropriate authorities,” he added.
