OAU student’s murder: Lawyer urges police to declare hotel owner’s son wanted

A lawyer to the family of late Timothy Oludare, a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) who was allegedly murdered at Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, has urged the Nigerian Police to declare Raheem Adedoyin, the son of the hotel owner wanted over the murder.

Oludare was until his death a postgraduate student of Business Administration (MBA) at the university.

The lawyer, Dr Kayode Ajulo, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja said Adedoyin’s son should be declared wanted for his alleged ignominious and gruesome acts in the murder case.

Ajulo said that his call was necessitated by the ntriguing statement made by the Osun State Commissioner of Police, wherein Dr Adedoyin’s son was identified as the one who dumped the corpse of the late Adegoke in the bush.

“Considering the circumstances of the murder of Oludare, the law enforcement agency ought to exert energy in arresting Adedoyin, who is allegedly at large.

“Now that the Police know so much, it is time to start asking more questions: Why has Raheem Adedoyin not been declared wanted and an intelligence team churned out to arrest him?

“Why would the hoteliers break into the late Timothy Adegoke’s room on the first night when he actually paid for two nights at the hotel?

“Why have the suspects not been charged before a Court of Competent record as prescribed by the Constitution,” he asked.

According to the victim’s family lawyer, the credibility of the Nigerian Police Force depended in large measure on their handling of the case.

Ajulo noted that anyone, including legal representatives who attempted to hastily justify the cause of death of late Oludare and exculpate the suspects was liable to be prosecuted as accessories after the facts.

The lawyer added that anyone found wanting would face the wrath of the law within the limits permissible by the law.

He further said that as events unfolded, the family was resolute in ensuring that justice was done.

Periscope International recalls that the victim (Timothy Adegoke)  an Abuja-based student, had travelled to Ife on November 5 to take an examination at the school’s distance learning center in Moro, Osun State.

The student was allegedly killed and buried in a shallow grave beside Hilton Hotel, Ile Ife last week.

According to the police, a case of a missing person was reported two days later at the Edun Abon Police Station and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

While the student was later found dead and his body recovered at the backyard of Hilton Hotel, Ike-Ife, where he had booked two nights accommodation, the police said six suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing.
