Opposition leader set to defeat Liberia’s incumbent President in presidential polls
Liberian opposition leader Joseph Boakai is set to defeat incumbent President George Weah in the country’s presidential election.
Boakai took a commanding lead in a runoff vote to become the West African nation’s next president, after almost all the ballots were counted.
Boakai secured 50.9% of the vote with 99.6% of polling stations in the Nov. 14 poll tallied.
According to the National Elections Commission, President Weah polled 49.1%.
