Plateau Deputy Gov Tyoden officially declares interest in succeeding Lalong

Plateau State Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden has officially declared to contest the Governorship seat of the State ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

Tyoden made the declaration at the NUT Hall of Mangu his own local government area on Friday amid thunderous cheers by party officials and stakeholders.

The APC ward chairman of Pushit, (Tyoden’s ward) Benjamin Yakus who officially presented the Deputy Governor to the Local Government Chairman of the Party, Abdullahi Ladan who In turn presented him to party faithfuls and stakeholders.

Ladan said that it was a privilege for him to present Tyoden who he described as a “credible, reliable and trusted personality” who is the most suitable for the number one seat in the State, taking into cognizance his array of achievements in life.

The Local Government APC chairman, also  said that he was confident in the ability of Professor Sonni Tyoden and urged party faithful to support his aspiration.

Chairman, Mangu Local Government Council, Minister Daput commended the Deputy Governor for the declaration and assured him of the needed support.

He further prevailed on other aspirants to conduct themselves with decorum for a peaceful selection process.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor had presented himself before ward officials of the All Progressives Congress in his Pushit Ward where he noted that he had worked diligently and had supported and represented the Governor at various fora.

This, he said, had further widened his horizon on leadership and governance, coupled with his professional calling as a Professor of Political Science.

Present at the event were numerous political stalwarts and Tyoden’s teeming supporters who spoke at the event and declared total support for the aspiration of the Deputy Governor while wishing him in his bid to succeed Gov Lalong.
