Plateau Gov-elect Mutfwang seeks partnership with China to leverage ICT
Plateau State Gov-elect, Caleb Mutfwang has held a consultative meeting with officials of Chinese firm, Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited in Abuja, as part of strategic engagements ahead of his inauguration on May 29.
Held at the company’s Abuja office, the consultative meeting was aimed at seeking areas of partnership and collaboration between the Chinese Information and Communication Technology (ICT) company and Plateau State Government.
According to the Governor-elect, his areas of particular interest are Electronic Governance (E-Governance), ICT Training for Youths to acquire relevant skills, and the setting up of an ICT Hub in Plateau State, to serve the rest of Northern Nigeria and beyond.
Mutfwang also said that the hub, when created, would not only be limited to providing services and support, but should have the capacity to produce consumer electronics like smartphones, mobile broadband modems and computers, among others.
Periscope International reports that the meeting was fruitful as the Huawei team expressed their enthusiastic toward the immense possibilities, which such a partnership would provide for the incoming government in the state.
