Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has said that the state government would apply the funds that it was expecting to access from the Development of Natural Resources Fund to bolster the state’s potentials in agriculture, solid minerals and tourism sectors.
The governor made this known in Jos on Wednesday when he received in audience the Committee on Fiscal Efficiency and Budget from the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) who visited him in Jos
The committee’s visit led by its Chairman Alhaji Adamu Dibal was sequel to the application by the Plateau State Government to access funds from the Development of Natural Resources Fund, which was for the purpose of carrying out an assessment of the state’s submission.
While thanking the Committee for the visit, the governor noted that Plateau State is renowned for its comparative advantage and key potentials in agriculture, solid minerals and tourism, which are areas that the funds will be applied to when approved.
Lalong assured the Committee that Plateau State Government under his leadership was passionate about developing the potentials of the state and creating jobs for its teeming youth in order to reduce restiveness and crimes.
Earlier in his remark, Alhaji Dibal said the submission of Plateau State for accessing funding from the Resources Fund was in line with the guidelines setting up the fund which is for the provision of funding for the development of natural resources across the country.
He assured the Governor that after its visit, the Committee would give its report to the Commission for further consideration and approval.
