Police arraign female lawyer for allegedly committing adultery, killing husband
The Police Command in Akwa Ibom State has arraigned a 36-year-old female lawyer, Abasiesebanga Ikoiwak, for allegedly killing her husband after her husband discovered that their houseboy was her biological son.
The defendant was arraigned before an Uyo High Court alongside five others for allegedly killing her 41-year-old husband, Mr Godwin Ikoiwak.
According to the prosecution, the defendant had lied to her husband that the houseboy who she brought into her matrimonial home was her younger brother.
Her late husband initially had no idea the housemaid who had been living with the couple for years was actually his wife’s biological son.
The prosecution team, which submitted audio evidence that was played in open court, was led in evidence by Mr Joseph Umoren, Director of Public Prosecution, Akwa Ibom State.
A friend of the deceased, Sunny Anyanwu, who also testified before the court revealed that the deceased died after a phone call conversation with him in which he disclosed that he was having some problems with his wife bordering on infidelity.
Anyanwu said that the deceased told him that he had reported the incident to his wife’s family, who called him to a meeting in their family house in Nung Udoe Itak, Ikono LGA, but he did not come home alive.
He further said that his deceased friend also said that his wife was also having an affair with her former boss, a legal practitioner named C.I. Odoh.
Anyanwu told the court that his friend informed him that his wife worked as a housekeeper for a Catholic priest, Rev. Father Maurice Mbeke.
He added that his friend revealed to him that the priest too had impregnated her and she gave birth to a boy, who is now 19 years old and named after his wife’s maternal grandpa.
