Police arrest 40-year-old man for allegedly impregnating 15-year-old girl
The police command in Niger State have arrested a 40-year-old man, Usman Mohammed, for allegedly impregnating a 15-year-old girl.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, said that the suspect has been arrested and has confessed to the crime.
He said Mohammed confessed that each time the girl was returning from her Islamiya school, he would speak to her and cajole her to an uncompleted building in Tayi village in Bosso where he had sexual intercourse with her on several occasions.
Abiodun said the suspect also confessed that he usually gave the girl N100 or N200 each time he slept with her and would always warn her not to tell anyone about it.
According to him, the suspect said that he had lost count of the number of times he had unprotected sex with the victim in the uncompleted building.
The Nation reports that the burble bust when the parents of the girl, who is a JSS student at a secondary school in Minna, took her to the hospital when she fell sick and it was discovered after several tests that she was pregnant with complications.
During interrogation, the victim confessed to her parents that the suspect was the one who impregnated her and exposed all the things they had been doing together.
The police spokesman added that preliminary investigation was ongoing at the Bosso Police Division.
He added that the suspect would be transferred to the state criminal investigation department in Minna for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
