The Police Command in Ogun State has arrested the suspected killers of a couple, Kehinde Fatinoye and Bukola Fatinoye, and their only surviving son, Oreoluwa Fatinoye, who they threw into a river on New Year Day 2023 in Abeokuta the Ogun State capital.
A friend of the couple’s son, Master Oreoluwa who was also thrown into the river alongside him, had however survived and later escaped through the river bank.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed this on Thursday, said three persons involved in the killing, including a prime suspect, Lekan Adekanbi, who had earlier escaped from police custody, have all been arrested.
Periscope International recalls that the assailants had reportedly burnt the remains of the victims and their house, located in Ibara Government Reservation Area, Abeokuta.
The deceased husband, Mr Kehinde, before his death, worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria, while his wife, Bukola, worked with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
They were both murdered on 1st January by the suspects after returning home from a crossover church service usually conducted to usher in the New Year.
