Reuben Abati’s wife, Kikelomo Atanda-Owo, who has been divorced twice, has opened up on why her first two marriages crashed.
- The wife of veteran journalist and former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, said that she ended her first marriage after discovering that she had unknowingly married a gay man.
According to her, the second marriage ended because her former husband was involved in abuse and infidelity.
Ms Atanda-Owo made the disclosure while speaking on media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown’s The Morayo Show.
Appearing alongside her husband, she explained that her past experiences shaped her understanding of love, healing, and self-worth.
She said the experiences left her emotionally scarred but ultimately helped her grow and heal.
Reflecting on her journey, she said the failures taught her the importance of self-awareness and intentionality in choosing a life partner.
She added that love alone is not enough to sustain a relationship.
The marketing communications executive and CEO of Z-Edge Holdings, married Abati in 2023 as his third wife.
She noted that despite her past, she has no regrets, describing her children as the greatest blessings from those experiences.
Speaking during the interview, Abati said their marriage was not based on material considerations but on shared values, intellect, and mutual understanding.
He also advised anyone trapped in an abusive relationship to seek a way out, stressing that there is hope after difficult experiences.
