Sen Orji Kalu weeps as pickpocket steals cellphone while collecting return certificate

Abia North Senator cum Senator-elect, Orji Uzor Kalu, has cried out over the stealing of his cellphone by a suspected pickpocket when he went to collect his certificate of return at the International Conference Center, ICC, in Abuja.

The Senate Chief Whip who disclosed this in a statement said the cellphone, which has both his MTN and Glo lines, got missing while he went to receive his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He, therefore, urged the public to be wary of any illicit activity that the person(s) that stole his phone could engage in with it.

“This is to notify the general public to beware of any illicit activity involving my cell phone and numbers.

“During the collection of Certificate of Return at International Conference Centre Abuja, my cell phone with MTN and Glo lines were stolen by a yet-to-be-identified person(s).

“My network providers have been duly informed. Please don’t hesitate to provide any useful information,” the lawmaker wrote in the statement.

Periscope International recalls that Kalu was Governor of Abia State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.

He was elected senator on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and re-elected to the Senate during the recently conducted National Assembly polls APC on February 25, 2023.

Kalu, who was briefly jailed for multibillion naira corruption before the Supreme Court later freed him, is currently lobbying to become the Senate President under the administration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who also belongs to the APC.
