Terrorists order Zamfara communities to pay N24m levies or be eliminated
Terrorists in Zamfara State have written to some communities in the state and ordered them to pay a levy of N24 million or be totally eliminated .
Reports quoting a top security operative in the state, said that nine communities in Bukkuyum and Anka local government areas of the state affected by the terrorists’ order are already in panic.
The letter is said to have been delivered to the communities by some unknown terrorists who are demanding prompt payment, and threatening to attack and eliminate the communities if they defied the order.
The levy ranges from N500,000 to N5 million per community which comprise Gaude, Tungar Gebe, Wawan Iccen Ibrahim, Wawan Iccen Salihu, Galle, Nannarki, Ruwan Kura, Gangara and Yargalma communities.
Periscope International reports that the district heads of the communities had already alerted authorities about the development.
It would be recalled that cases of terrorists compelling communities to pay levies or be totally wiped out by them have recently assumed a new level of notoriety in the Northwest part of the country.
The police in Zamfara State had yet to react to the development prior to publishing this story.
